This usually serves as a more enjoyable and light-hearted intro to the betting trends. We needed to make a left turn and talk about something more important.

Disgusting. Completely unnecessary. Someone had to be fired. It wasn’t enough to just fire someone on the Dolphins’ staff. Something needed to be done so what happened to Tua Tagavoila never happens again. This wasn’t a back injury. I’m not sure it needed to be said a week later, but I find some solace that the NFL is going to announce new protocols. “The amended protocol, which will take effect during Sunday’s games, will prohibit a player from returning to play if he shows ataxia, a term describing impaired balance or coordination caused by damage to the brain or nerves.” This protocol agreed to between the NFL and NFLPA is a dollar short and a day late. Sometimes players need to be protected from themselves. This is a step in the right direction, but you wonder why it took so long. Let’s stop worrying about fining players for shoes, socks, arm wear, etc. Let’s ensure those players who are making the league and its staff an extraordinary amount of money are put in the best positions to go home to their families while sacrificing themselves on the field.

Week 5 Betting Notes and Trends

  • Speaking of the Dolphins, Miami is 9-2-1 and 10-2 SU against the Jets in the last 12 games. Teddy Bridgewater will get the start and is 24-6 ATS as a starter in road games.
  • The over is 6-0 in the last 6 games Detroit has played. The Over is 7-0 in the previous New England games. Detroit is 13-3 against the spread in its L16 after a loss ATS.
  • The Falcons are the NFL’s only unbeaten team against the spread at 4-0-0. Atlanta is 1-4 against the spread at Raymond James Stadium in the last five games.
  • The Cowboys are 3-1 ATS this year and the Rams are 31-15-1 ATS in their last 47 against the NFC. Also, Cooper Rush is one of the final 2 quarterbacks undefeated in the NFL as a starter this year. Speaking of Cooper Rush, did you know Greg Waddell, our friend, went to high school with Cooper Rush?
  • The Chiefs have gone 7-1 ATS in the last 8 MNF game appearances. Las Vegas is 1-5 ATS in its last six games on the Road. This game will have many points if the trend holds as the Over is a perfect 4-0 in the last 4 meetings between these two teams.
