This week I joined The Weekenders Show to talk about the greatest rivalry in sports. I broke my answer down in three parts:
The best rivalry moment was North Carolina/Duke 2022 Final Four
The best game rivalry experience is the Red River Rivalry between the Oklahoma Sooners and Texas Longhorns.
The Best game is THE GAME: The University of Michigan Wolverines vs. The Ohio State University Buckeyes.
On a personal note, there are no words that I can use to truly describe the rivalry better than the best play by play announcer of my lifetime:
20 years ago. Lloyd Carr finally beat Tressell. It felt like the biggest weight off of Michigan’s shoulders cause Michigan was returning to the Rose Bowl. Little did we know… It would be a 8 year run where Tress dominated the Wolverines. 2011 provided us with a o Robinson performance for the ages.
And then there was the Urban Meyer era. A reminder that JT was still short in 2016, but regardless Urban is the best regular season college football coach in my lifetime. 8 straight wins and then the best sports feeling in the 2020s I ever experience was at THE GAME: 2021.
And now today…. 2nd year in a row both teams are 11-0. They are the two best teams in the Midwest for two years running. Will Ryan Day lose and get thrown out on third base and go to College Station, TX? Will Sherrone Moore get to 4-0 as an interim coach and give JJH the reigns for Indy and the CFP?
With everything going around both programs, this is the biggest game ever at The Big House in modern history. Legacies are on the line. Welcome to THE BIGGEST GAME in American Sports. #GoBlue
