NFL Week 1 didn’t disappoint on the screen. Overall in terms of our wallets and accounts…If they could speak… I think they would use a different word than disappointment. The Books were the winners last week. BetMGM won more than $1M in Nevada alone. Underdogs went 7-7 ATS and under were 9-5, as Caesars, SouthPoint, and the Westgate Superbook reported winning days. A worker from Caesars said, “It’s a pretty good day on our side of the counter if the Bears and Giants win on the same day.” For the record, none of us had the Bears or Giants winning.

Week 2 Betting Notes and Trends

  • 59% of teams given eight to 10 points in Week 2 since 2007 cover. There are 5 teams.
  • Aaron Rodgers owns the Bears. If you don’t believe me, believe this man. Aaron Rodgers has a 23-0 TD/INT ratio against the Bears in prime time. The Packers were double-digit favorites three times at home last season and covered each time. The Packers are 17-5 ATS in their last 21 Sunday home games.
  • John Harbaugh is 16-8 SU as a three-to-five-point favorite at home in the regular season. Baltimore is listed as a 3.5-point favorite against the Dolphins today.
  • Betting the Bills as a double-digit favorite is a great thing if you believe in Sean McDermott. McDermott is 5-2-2 ATS and 8-1 SU as a double-digit favorite. I think the Bills have to be in every parlay this week. The Bills are 10-point favorites against Tennessee on Monday.
  • Kirk Cousins is 8-17 in primetime. The Vikings are 2-8 ATS in their last 10 games at Philadelphia. They are also 4-12 ATS in their last 16 games played on Monday. Philadelphia has lost 5 straight games played in Week 2. Something has to give.
