The Los Angeles Sparks were just a game away from making the playoffs last year. After a season of injuries and shortcomings, the Sparks look to get back to their winning ways. With some new additions to the squad, the Sparks match up well against anybody in the league.

Coach Derek Fisher has a load of talent on his hands, and it will be interesting to see how he utilizes it this season. There will definitely be pressure on him to succeed with this roster consisting of star vets and young talent.

This offseason, Los Angeles acquired Liz Cambage, Chennedy Carter, Katie Lou Samuelson, and Lexie Brown. The Cambage signing was a big move for the Sparks. They add one of the tallest bigs in the league who can defend and score at will. It’ll be interesting to see how coach Derek Fisher uses her in their game plan this season. Regardless, the Sparks have one of the best frontcourts in the league. Last season didn’t end the way Cambage wanted it to, but it looks like she’s ready for a fresh start in Hollywood.

Speaking of Hollywood, Chennedy Carter is ready for a fresh start as well after her fall out with the Atlanta Dream. This was another good move made by the Sparks because Carter can easily be their point guard for the future. Chennedy is one of the best young guards in the league and can improve the Sparks’ offense instantly. It looks like she has already been building chemistry with players and learning from the vets on the team.

With a good guard core and a tough frontcourt, the Sparks will have a much better season than last year if the team remains healthy. They should see some improvements all around this season and should be competing in the playoffs. While it may not be a title year for the sparks, it’ll definitely be a year for fans to be optimistic about. The new pieces Los Angeles added definitely pushes them a step closer to competing for another championship.
