The Dallas Wings are a young squad that can be a force to be reckoned with if given the right guidance. Last year the Wings made the playoffs but got bounced out of the first round at the hands of the Chicago Sky. The wings didn’t make any major moves in the offseason, but it looks like Arike Ogunbowale is in their long-term plans. Ogunbowale signed a multi-year extension with the team in the offseason. The Wings also received Tierra McCowan in a draft-day trade along with the seventh pick.

This upcoming season, the wings are going to need some consistency if they plan on competing with the league’s best. But the way many of their players looked last season, as well as the offseason, They might be able to make that necessary leap.

Dallas’ guard core is one of the best in the league but is one that needs to be used properly in order to succeed. Allisha Gray has been one of the more underrated players in the league, but this could be the year she gets her proper respect. That is if Coach Vicky Johnson utilizes her in a way that can benefit both Gray and the team. Marina Mabery is one of the better shooters in the league and can get hot on any given night. Arike is a good young guard whose shot selection could use some improvement. If she got her teammates a bit more involved, they could be a tough team to beat.

Isabelle Harrison played in Athlete’s Unlimited inaugural Women’s basketball season and was easily one of the league’s best players. Harrison was a captain several times and looked impressive amongst the competition. Hopefully, she can pick up where she left off and put herself in the class of the top bigs in the league.

Second-year bigs Charli Collier and Awak Kuier should see some improvement this season after having solid rookie seasons last year. The acquisition of Tierra McCowan should be good for the group of young bigs. She was good on both sides of the ball last year for the Fever and might just be the piece the Wings need to get them a step closer to competing amongst the best in the league.

Satou Sabally is another player on a lot of people’s radars this upcoming season. Being one of the best young players in the league, it’s time to see if she takes that leap to become one of the best players in the league in general.

All eyes will be on Dallas this season. They should be able to improve on the areas they lacked in last season, but we’ll ultimately have to watch how their season plays out.
