One team everyone will have their eye on this upcoming season is the Seattle Storm. After winning the inaugural WNBA Commissioner’s Cup, the Storm had a bit of a decline. Breanna Stewart missed some time due to an injury, and the team as a whole didn’t look the same. They would eventually lose in the second-round against the Phoenix Mercury in what many thought would be Sue Bird’s last game. After giving it much thought, the legendary point guard decided that this upcoming season would likely be her last.

“I think it’s assumed to be my last, and I do believe all arrows are pointing in that direction,” Bird said this offseason. This season would be her 19th, all with the Seattle Storm.

Breanna Stewart and Jewell Loyd re-signed with the Seattle Storm as well after becoming free agents for the first time in their careers. The star trio will be running it back one more time with hopes of ending the season with a championship. They are contenders once again this season and added some pieces to help them become champions.

This off-season, the Storm acquired Gabby Williams in exchange for the seventh overall pick and Katie Lou Samuelson. The last time we saw Williams in the W was in 2020 with the Chicago Sky. She missed last season due to playing with the France national team. Because of her commitment to the France national team, she was suspended for the season and traded to the Sparks.

In the Olympics, Williams was an absolute killer for her country. She was one of the best players in the tournament and led France to a bronze medal. Her play in the Olympics had fans across the league excited to see her play in the WNBA this season.

This will be Noelle Quinn’s first full year as head coach. She did an excellent job with the squad last year, but we all know the Storm wants more than just a second-round playoff exit. Look for them to be one of the top teams in the league as they go on their quest for another championship.
