Voting is complete and the stage is set. Team WNBA will face off against the USA Women’s National Team in the 2024 WNBA All-Star Game.

WNBA All Stars

Looking at the rosters, we’re in for a great matchup. One of the great things about this year’s game is the format. We get a full glimpse at the best players in the league, while also getting to see the first look at some of the best players in the world on a team together. This could serve as the first test for Team USA as there are members of Team WNBA eager to show them up.

Should come as no surprise that rookie sensations Angel Reese and Caitlin Clark are making their first all-star appearances. The college standouts have taken the league by storm early on in their promising careers. There was much discussion as to whether Clark should’ve been chosen for the Olympic squad, and now she gets the chance to fully plead her case. For Reese, it gives her the chance to fully show that she belongs in this league after being doubted since before the last NCAA Tournament.

With both squads loaded, hopefully, the potential matchups deliver some great moments in the game. Especially between the guards. You have Sabrina Ionescu, Chelsea Gray, Kahleah Copper, Jackie Young, Diana Taurasi, Kelsey Plum, and Jewell Loyd representing Team USA. And on Team WNBA you have as previously mentioned, Caitlin Clark, her teammate Kelsey Mitchell, Arike Ogunbowale, Kayla McBride, and Allisha Gray. Hopefully, we get some back-and-forth sequences from this group of guards.

Don’t sleep on the frontcourt matchups either. Team WNBA has DeWanna Bonner, Dearica Hamby, Aliyah Boston, Nneka Ogwumike, Bri Jones, Jonquel Jones, and as previously mentioned, Angel Reese. Representing Team USA will be reigning MVP Breanna Stewart, reigning Finals MVP A’ja Wilson, Brittney Griner, Alyssa Thomas, and Napheesa Collier.

Ultimately, this is the perfect matchup for Team USA as they prepare for the Olympics. Now whether the game will be competitively fun or not is up to them, but this has the feel of being must-see television. It’ll be fun seeing current teammates play against each other and former teammates reunite for the night. Many people will be tuned in, so it’ll be a perfect time for the league to showcase their best players.
